Father’s Day Bluegrass Festival (2024)

  • Nevada County Fairgrounds 11228 McCourtney Rd Grass Valley, CA 95949 (map)

The 49th Annual Father’s Day Bluegrass Festival is the California Bluegrass Association’s premier event of the year, and you are invited! Everyone in the world of California Bluegrass and Old-time music is returning to their favorite festival – June 13 through 16, 2024.

Sister Sadie performs on Friday, June 14th at Noon and 9:45pm. Catch their last performance on Saturday, June 15th at 9:00pm. Undeniably classic, hard-driving bluegrass. This isn’t your granddaddy’s Appalachian high lonesome sound. This is something far more powerful than that—it’s the sound of the mountains themselves.

Alison Brown performs at 4pm on Sunday, June 16th for the festival’s final performance. Alison took an unusual path to becoming an internationally recognized banjoist.  After completing her undergraduate studies at Harvard University and receiving an MBA from UCLA, she pursued a career in investment banking. But she missed the bluegrass music she’d grown up playing in Southern California so much that when Alison Krauss called looking for a banjo player, she made the decision to give up her Wall Street career to pursue music.  She toured with Alison Krauss and Union Station, and Michelle Shocked before forming her own group, The Alison Brown Quartet, in 1993.
