Memorial Service for Lou Conter, USS Arizona Survivor

From the Grass Valley Police Department Facebook Page:

“The memorial service for local veteran and hero, Lou Conter, will take place on Tuesday, April 23rd at 10:30 am, at St. Patricks Church (235 Chapel Street in Grass Valley). True to Lou’s warm heart, the service is open to the public. Organizers expect 100% capacity, as people from near and far pay their respects for Lou’s life and service. The Grass Valley Police Department will have traffic closures around the immediate area of the church to enhance pedestrian safety. Parking WILL BE challenging. If you are not attending the service, we encourage you to find alternate routes through the area.

***Traffic control impacting South Church and Chapel Street will be in place by 8:30am on Tuesday. No parking signage will be placed the night before. Traffic control in the area is expected to be lifted no later than 12:30pm.

The memorial will conclude with an emergency vehicle procession to St. Patricks Cemetery on West Main Street (near NID). If you are interested in viewing the procession, we expect it to take place between 11:30 and 12:30. Any sidewalk along South Church and West Main will be an ideal viewing location.

We would like to thank the group of people who has committed to helping in this event, and the Conter family for allowing Grass Valley Police and other local police agencies to play a role on such an important day!”
