Currently, USDA policy is to cull chickens as the only response to the bird flu. In the last twenty-four months 166 million birds have been killed. However, a very small percentage of these chickens actually had the flu or were even showing symptoms. The protocol has been to kill the entire flock, horribly, by foam suffocation. The policy is, if one or two chickens on your farm shows any trace of bird flus from a PCR test, then automatically, all your chickens are killed. The problem with the PCR test is that there are many false positives.
The County’s budget totals $388 million, with 45.8%—or $167 million—sourced from federal and state intergovernmental funds. This revenue supports 908 full-time equivalent positions delivering essential services, but recent federal actions threaten this pipeline, prompting urgent advocacy by the Board. Nevada County’s complete reliance on federal funding for these services amplifies the stakes. Discretionary revenues offer little buffer against cuts to the $167 million in federal and state aid while losing tax-exempt municipal bonds could cripple infrastructure funding tied to salaries.
Rusty Dankbud went at Miners Foundry to watch Kevin Kiley pull a vanishing act on the Indivisible Nevada County town hall, leaving a room full of Bay Area transplant, Trump-deranged, Prius-piloting relics who ditched San Francisco for bucolic Nevada County clutching their “Resist” pins and unraveling into a woke frenzy. The townhall turned into a three-hour TDS therapy session with keynote preacher Supervisor Heidi Hall, Nevada County’s self-anointed queen of sanctimony, leading the charge like a progressive televangelist on a righteous bender.
Reliance on the state as the primary mechanism for helping the needy not only undermines the potential of individual goodwill but also betrays a skepticism about the very people he claims to champion. True compassion, particularly from a Christian perspective, should rest on trust in mankind’s capacity for generosity and mutual aid and not on the coercive arm of bureaucracy.
On March 10, 2025, over 400 people packed the Eric Rood Administrative Center in Nevada City, California, for Congressman Kevin Kiley’s community office hours, an event touted by The Union as a platform for constituent concerns in California’s Third District. What could have been a rallying point for real change devolved into a showcase of the “woke mind virus” and a gathering of virtue signalers more intent on preaching than solving problems.

Poor Kevin Kiley—our District 3 golden boy—probably thought he was doing a solid with these office hours. “Come vibe, constituents!” he says, all polished and straight-edge, expecting a few chill folks with pothole gripes and legitimate federal budget concerns. Instead, he gets a tsunami of progressive Boomers, a plaid-and-patchouli posse demanding he dismantle the patriarchy by lunch or at least ban plastic vape pens in Nevada County.
We are being exposed to a barrage of fear tactics claiming that Medicaid is being cut for those who need it.
“I happened to be in the D.C. area when the offices of the U.S. Agency for International Development were closed.”
