Today is the 248th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence! As we enjoy our holiday and stay hydrated, let us also remember that our founders wrote the Declaration of Independence for a reason. The reasons, listed as grievances, are written in the Declaration and explain “the causes which impel them to the separation.

The final form of the revisions to the Articles, which resulted in an entirely new Constitution, was a surprise to the states and the populous of the nation. The reason that the new Constitution was a revelation is because the delegates made certain that their deliberations would remain secret.
