The Resurgence of Communism in America

The communist leader Joseph Stalin once said: “America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within.”

Communism was defeated in the Cold War with the fall of the Iron Curtain, right? Not exactly. Communist ideology is alive and well in many nations of the world today. China, Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea to name a few and in most western countries. Communist ideology is endemic even in the bastion of freedom and liberty—the USA. It surrounds us even in Nevada County, in our schools and in our county government if you care to look closely.

Communist infiltration

Do you see the infiltration of communism in our lives today? Its revolutionary ideology has insidiously crept into the very fabric of America. It’s embedded in our government in many areas with the unsustainable increase in debt, central government control of public education, government and big tech censorship in media, removing God and religion from all government institutions and platforms, and dividing the people with racial discrimination. Yes, the class distinctions feeding traditional Marxist-communist ideology have mostly failed, but the racial and skin color distinctions are alive and well feeding a different but similar ideology that seeks to achieve Joseph Stalin’s objective to collapse America from within.

We are on the brink of a global communist resurgence. There is an organized, coordinated, well-funded assault on democratic Western European countries and on our own constitutional republic through social, cultural, economic and political means. After the Berlin Wall fell and the Soviet Union dissolved, the outward appearance of communism was diminished. But communist ideology has deceived us by adopting names like Black Lives Matter, Antifa, World Economic Forum, Critical Race Theory, and Open Society which seem less threatening but upon examination are far more dangerous. There is a war on our culture and morality through media and big tech, on our youth through public education, and on our patriotism and society by the radical leftist movement. Their agenda is to weaken us through our vulnerabilities as an open, free society by stealth introduction of communist ideology infiltration into these systems.

The Soviet leader Lenin said: “Give me a student for 10 years, and I’ll make a permanent revolutionary out of him.” In the 1960s, Khrushchev said: “Give me one generation of American youth, and I’ll destroy America.” There has been over 60 years of indoctrination of our youth through public education. That is three generations. The destruction of America declared by Khrushchev is nearly complete.

There is an agenda to take America down that has been manifesting for decades because it is a thriving capitalist country and we have critical rights enshrined in our Constitution and Bill of Rights. It is instructive to look back 60 years or so and examine just a few of the ways that Communist philosophies have infiltrated our society.

Cloward and Piven’s eight-point strategy

In the May 2, 1966 issue of The Nation, Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, two sociology professors at Columbia University, introduced a plan to eliminate poverty by redistribution of wealth in an article entitled “The Weight of the Poor: A strategy to End Poverty.” They envisioned a political crisis that would take complete control of citizens through gradual implementation of Socialism leading to Communism.

Consider how far we have come to implement their eight-point strategy in our country, state, and county in the following ways:

  1. Healthcare. Control a nation’s healthcare and you control the people. Obamacare, universal healthcare, single-payer healthcare, the Medicare for All Act: government agencies already control virtually all aspects of healthcare, even infringing on the doctor-patient relationship during the COVID treatment protocols. Single-payer healthcare would give the government control over all healthcare.

  2. Poverty. Increase the level of poverty to reduce or eliminate the middle class since people with limited means are easier to control. Our Federal, state, and local governments continue to enact and enforce restrictions, regulations, fines, and laws that eliminate jobs and our Constitutional rights.

  3. Debt. Increase the debt ceiling to unsustainable levels, then increase taxes to create more poverty.  The Federal debt has dramatically increased with the national debt now over $31 trillion; about 120 percent of our nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). That is over $94,000 per U.S. citizen. California state and local debt exceeds $1.6 trillion and adds another $40,000 to each person’s debt load according to the respected California Policy Center.

  4. Gun Control. Limit the ability of citizens to defend themselves from the government, creating a police state to control the populace. In California, each legislative session includes the introduction of progressively more drastic Second Amendment restrictions.

  5. Welfare. Use government welfare to take control of every aspect of people’s lives: food, housing, and income. Since 1900 and until the 1960s, welfare was between 0.1 and 2 percent of GDP, and the 1966 introduction of the Cloward and Piven strategy increased it to 4%. If you were to view a graph of welfare spending history since 1900, you would see the mid-1960s increase and then a spike in the 2001 tech bust, the Great Recession of 2008-9, and a huge spike caused by the recent COVID subsidies.

  6. Education. Take control of what children are taught in school and what people read, see, and hear through the media. Critical Race Theory principles have been taught as college courses and their principles and philosophies are entering local school districts all over the country. Nevada County is no exception. Censorship, propaganda, and cultural and historical misinformation also have been forced on all our students.  Government and big tech collusion has been used to censor and control the media narrative, as revealed in release of the Twitter Files.

  7. Religion. Separate people from their religion and ridicule it. Demoralize the family structure, remove God from government platforms and schools, demonize our Judeo-Christian heritage, and introduce the gender identity crisis.

  8. Class Warfare. Divide the people with class and race warfare. Examples include Black Lives Matter, white privilege, white supremacy, Critical Race Theory, and the 1619 Project.

Case study: the Socialist goal of overloading the welfare system

Richard Poe analyzed the Cloward-Piven Strategy. He points out that in 1966, they wrote that rather than placating the poor with government handouts, activists should work to sabotage and destroy the welfare system by overloading it. Collapsing the welfare state would ignite a crisis that would rock the nation. Poor people would rise in revolt. Carefully orchestrated media campaigns, carried out by friendly, leftwing journalists, would float the idea of "a federal program of income redistribution," in the form of a guaranteed living income for all—working and non-working people alike. Local officials would clutch at this idea like drowning men to a lifeline. This would cause the government to come to the rescue with Socialism/Communism to solve the crisis.

A massive program of welfare registration ensued based on this “overload the welfare system” strategy. The number of single-parent households on welfare soared from 4.3 million in 1965 to 10.8 million in 1974. New York City was forced to declare bankruptcy in 1975 as a direct result of welfare overload. The Cloward-Piven strategy proved to be successful. They moved on to implement this “overload the system” strategy in other areas of society.

Efforts to encourage censorship, violence, and propaganda

Well-funded organizations such as Black Lives Matter (BLM) and Antifa that were founded by admitted Marxists/Communists espouse philosophies and are creating unrest, chaos, and division in American cities. Their hatred and intolerance of our law enforcement, our national history, and our culture is evident in their attempts to take down our Republic with their violence and destruction across this nation. BLM and Antifa members have even demonstrated here in Nevada County. While not all supporters of these organizations are Marxists, the fact that their leaders support Marxist philosophies should be of concern. Black Lives Matter, Antifa and other groups use censorship, violence, and propaganda to achieve their goals.

Our current administration often acts in an anti-American manner and cares more about supporting foreign nations than taking care of the American people. For example, supplying or abandoning tens of billions of dollars of military equipment to Ukraine and to the Taliban in Afghanistan; not calling out China for its human rights abuses; for the lab release of the COVID virus; and for infringement of our sovereign airspace. Another example is giving illegal aliens hundreds of millions of dollars in free housing, food, and benefits while not adequately caring for our own homeless and struggling veterans.

“We will take America without firing a shot.”

In 1956, the Communist leader of the Soviet Union, Nikita Khrushchev, reportedly delivered this quote at a press conference: “We will take America without firing a shot. We do not have to invade the U.S. We will destroy you from within.” Again in 1959, he reportedly said: “We can’t expect American people to jump from Capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders by feeding them small doses of Socialism until they awaken one day to find they already have Communism.” Fact checkers on the above quotes offer different conclusions, but there is no doubt that the Soviet Union had the destruction of the US in its sights and “creeping socialism” has been with us both before and after those reported statements were made.

Communist regimes aren’t satisfied until they obtain total control over their population. Communist leaders and their government agencies take over control of all private property, production of food and goods and its distribution, medical care and the financial system of the country. This evil ideology then limits access to essential commodities and abolishes freedom, making slaves of the people.

Do you see the insidious creep of Communism in our Constitutional Republic of America? We have a choice between a tyrannical, authoritarian Communist government or our liberty. We must make others aware of this march of Communism in our midst and strive to maintain our rights and freedom of choice in our jobs, speech, education, religion, the right to own property and run a business, to gather together and redress our grievances, celebrate our faith and pursue our happiness.
