War with Iran Would be Catastrophic for the U.S. Economy

In his recent article, “The High Price of War with Iran: $10 Gas and the Collapse of the U.S. Economy”, Ohio Representative, Dennis Kucinich, warns against the dire economic consequences of an attack on Iran.

Remember this diabolical playbook: Create a pretext. Lie to the American people about a threat. Hype the threat. Create irrational fear. Tell them military action is needed to eliminate the threat, and their fears. Bombs away.” – Dennis Kucinich

Remember Iraq?

With Iraq, it didn’t matter that they didn’t have anything to do with 9/11, or didn’t have weapons of mass destruction. The result, one million Iraqi men, women and children were killed because of President Bush’s lies.

“On October 10, 2002, the House of Representatives, by a vote of 296-133, authorized the use of military force against Iraq. I led the opposition. The war bill passed the Senate the next day, 77-23, and was signed into law by President Bush on October 16, 2002.” - Dennis Kucinich

The Iraq war cost U.S. taxpayers at least $3 trillion and thousands of U.S. servicemen’s lives.

Remember Libya?

On March 19, 2011, President Obama authorized an attack on Libya to depose Muammar Gaddafi, without formal congressional authorization. The U.S, with the assistance of NATO allies, wreaked hell and destruction on Libya. Gaddafi was captured and killed. This fiasco cost U.S. taxpayers over a billion dollars. Obama later admitted Libya was the worst decision of his Presidency.

Remember Yemen?

“Today, the Houthis of Yemen continue their attacks on Israeli shipping interests in the Red Sea in protest to the Netanyahu government’s genocidal attack on Gaza. In response to the attacks President Trump, ever allegiant to Israel, directed American air forces to attack Yemen.” – Dennis Kucinich

Between March 15th & 16th the U.S launched over 47 air strikes on Yemen, killing 53 people. At least 25 were civilians, including four children.

On Wednesday, March 26th, a Signal group chat transcript describes National Security Adviser, Mike Waltz, admitting to U.S. war crimes in Yemen. Vice President J.D Vance said it was “excellent” that a strike collapsed a building in which 13 civilians died.

Democrats are more upset about the security leak than the loss of life and are calling for “a full investigation.”

It's a war crime to permit destroying a civilian occupied apartment building just to kill one terrorist. International law mandates that combatants must not deliberately target civilians. Tell that to Netanyahu and Biden.

Now Iran?

On July 25, 2024, Netanyahu, addressed the U.S. Congress concerning Iran, which he characterized as, not only a deadly enemy of Israel, but also of the United States.

Trump threatened the Iranian government, saying: “Every shot fired by the Houthis will be looked upon from this point forward, as being a shot fired from the weapons and leadership of Iran. And Iran will be held responsible, and suffer the consequences, and those consequences will be dire.”

Never mind the fact that every shot fired and bomb dropped on civilians by the Israel Defense Force (IDF) was funded by the leadership of the U.S.

Currently, U.S. B-52 bombers, with the Israeli Air Force, are training for potential strikes at Iran’s underground nuclear sites. The potential for armed or even nuclear conflict with Iran is escalating.

It has never been in America’s interest to go to war with Iran, a rich, technologically advanced country. The economic consequences of war with Iran could spell the end of the viability of the Trump Presidency and the downfall of the U.S. economy.

“Iran supplies 3% of the world’s oil. If the U.S. goes to war with Iran, crude oil prices per barrel (currently ranging from $68.86 (West Texas Intermediate) - $72.28 (Brent Crude), could rise to $200 per barrel.” - Dennis Kucinich

“The Strait of Hormuz, a major conduit for the transport of oil would be disrupted. Iran has the capability to retaliate by targeting Gulf oil infrastructure, including Saudi Arabia. Market panic would ensue.” - Dennis Kucinich

Gas prices could rise between $7-10 gallon, causing major disruptions, including high inflation, recession risks and market instability. All markets would take a hit, auto sales, transportation, airlines, food distribution and trucking. The Dow Jones and S&P 500 would tank, with major selloffs.

The 2008 meltdown would pale in comparison to what is in store for Americans in a war with Iran.

The Israeli people are sick of Netanyahu, for not bringing the hostages home and ending the war. There are mass protests calling for his resignation. It is only a matter of time until he is out.

Americans must ask themselves: Do we really want to continue to tie the U.S. to Netanyahu’s sinking ship? Haven’t we killed enough, (civilians in Gaza as well as Iraq, Libya and Yemen)?

Will President Trump consider the dire consequences of continuing to align the United States in Netanyahu’s deranged global hatreds and hit list. Netanyahu has cost U.S. taxpayers enough already. A war with Iran would be economically catastrophic.
