“Voter Check-In Systems Briefly Down Election Day Morning
Voter check-in systems across Nevada County were briefly down this morning due to a technical issue. Ten voters who came in between 7-7:30 a.m. were given provisional ballots during that time to ensure the right to vote could continue.
The problem, which originated from the system vendor and affected multiple counties, was resolved at 7:30am, and voting has resumed as normal.”
12:33 p.m. Nevada County voter turnout is 27.3%. Of registered Republicans, 30.9% have voted. Of registered Democrats, 30.8% have voted. Of all other registered voters, 18.3% have voted.
12:21 p.m. Supervisor District 1 voter turnout as of 12:21 p.m. is 31.5%. Republicans voter turnout is 36.6% (percentage of registered Republicans who have voted) while Democrats are turning out at 34.0% (percentage of registered Democrats who have voted). The average turnout rate for all other voters is 22%.
Supervisor District 2 voter turnout is 27.8%. Democrat turnout is 34.2%, while Republican voter turnout is 29.1%, and the average rate for other voters is 18.5%.
Received at 12:17 p.m. from Corey O’Hayre, Assistant Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters:
“Hello Barry,
This was a countywide issue related to our voter check-in system that impacted Nevada County and Stanislaus County because we use the same vendor. We discovered the issue about 15 minutes before polls opened. Our IT team and the vendors IT team worked together to resolve the issue by about 7:30am. We went to our planned backup procedures we had in place that led to the countywide issuing of a total of 10 provisional ballots.
Thanks,
Corey O’Hayre”
12:00 p.m. We emailed Nevada County at 11:14 a.m. asking for an explanation for why the systems went down at multiple voting centers this morning. As of noon, we haven’t received a reply.
9:00 a.m. Voting centers are open this morning in Nevada County. Barry Pruett reports on location about how things are going at two voting centers: Gateway Park and Condon Park.
From roughly 7:00-7:30am, systems were down at Nevada County voting centers, including Western Gateway Park and Condon Park. Voters were issued provisional ballots during that time. Systems are back up now. Voters who received a provisional ballot because of the system failure can return to vote in person normally.
